Lizard is a popular tourist destination due to its scenic coastal trails that lead to coves and caves and cliffs and creeks and other wonderful natural phenomena. All four of Great Britain's extreme points have a lighthouse, but only 2 of them are still operational, and Lizard's is the only one still with a functional foghorn. As a local put it to me when I first arrived and was asking for directions, "You'll hear it before you see it."
