about

At a part of the Utsunoya pass that runs along a river there was a particular bend where I suddenly heard this chorus of frogs that I hadn’t heard until this point. After recording for only a minute I was interrupted by a local who asked what I was doing. Her name is Hinata and she invited me around to her house for tea, but I eventually ended up staying for the night. Returning to the bend in the river the next morning the frogs were still singing so I made a longer recording. What I found interesting is that I did not hear this kind of frog even once for the remainder of my journey along the Tōkaidō; what I’d like to believe (perhaps a little naively) is that someone who like me has walked the entirety of the Tōkaidō would be able to listen to this recording and know exactly where it was taken.
